Cheerful, artsy, and free-spirited, Rachel was born and raised in Houston. As friends and family can attest, there was never a day she didn’t love hair, playing, twisting, styling and restyling her own and those closest to her. It came as no surprise then when she pursued cosmetology, completing her certification in 1995. In 2002, she followed through on another long-time interest when she received a BA in psychology from Texas State University (then called Southwest Texas State).
Rachel learned the art of blow drying and styling under a tough French hairdresser. Later, she joined Visible Changes, where the majority of her cutting training took place. There she was nominated for the coveted “Rising Star” award, recognizing her as a top performer.
She began Thairapy in 2005 with a burning desire to start her own business. Her passion? To create something special in the community while providing a great work environment for her fellow beauty technicians.
Rachel’s mission at Thairapy is to offer customers that “WOW” beauty experience through great technical ability and tips and tricks of the trade. Customers’ ideas and preferences are top priority; the magic happens when the staff infuses their expertise with their customers’ thoughts to arrive at the best solution.
Rachel’s latest specialty is mixing pure essential oils, from scratch, for use in both the salon and spa. A few of the natural ingredients used in her Scalp and Hair Oil include jojoba, lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, and tea tree. Currently she is working on launching Thairapy’s very own product line, Thairapy — the hair essentials such as Shampoo, Conditioner and the like. Stay tuned for more to come!
